Boston Whaler 25' Walk Around Whaler Drive "Irena II"
A unique boat sailing in the Aegean, Unsinkable, a Classic
It is 28' with a total length of 9,0m with the bow and the Whaler Drive for the outboards and the swim platform, while by excluding the above it has a total length of 7,85m. Finally only without the bow it has a total length of 8,35m. Its free back deck space is really large, 50sq. feet which can easily accommodate any use of dining room, triple bed, bath area, fishing and diving area, wakeboard etc. Its gunnels are so wide that they are suitable for sunbathing. Its walk around is particularly safe and in the front deck there is a sofa with handles.
The fuel tank is 960lt offering incredible autonomy. With one filling it may last up to a 15-day holidays going from Chalkidiki to Sporades, Pelion and back to Chalkidiki again. Large bow and swim platform with stainless steel clasp with a very handy staircase. Beautiful and well maintained furniture on the back deck and the living room. It is quite light for its category, 2050 Kgr, without the engines and the hard top. It is accompanied by a two axes original American steel trailer Calkinis. The hardtop is suitable for transportation of equipment such as two-seater canoe or an inner tube.
The cabin has a dining room with a V-shaped wide table, a folded table for maps, a separate bed for the skipper, plenty of storage space, 2 folded window opening hatch with mosquito net, places for maps etc The boat can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children but it is possible to accommodate further 3 adults more in inflatable mattresses on the back deck which is closing from all sides with tents. There is a sprayhood copkit and two different tents in order to closed at the back. The skipper's and co-skippers' seats were installed in 2008 as well as all the tents.
It has a chemical toilet with a sewage storage tank which can be emptied either at the marina or at the open sea. The toilet is a separate room with a sink as well. All the plumbing systems and pumps were installed in 2008. It has a 60lt deposit of freshwater, offshore supply of fresh water, freshwater shower and a washing system of the deck with sea water while the deck can be self emptied.
In 2008 and 2013 the boat was fully renovated. Two new excellent engines four stroke outboard Suzuki 175 hp were installed with reversed propellers with a capacity of a cruising speed 27 -31 miles/hour (depending on the load) and with a max. speed 42 miles/hour. Both engines are just 8 inches away from the water when they are set in the upper position and the gas consumption amounts from 1.9lt to 2.6lt per mile depending on the load for both engines together. They have 235 hours of operation but most of them have been with the minimum speed of fishing. Maintenance takes place every year and the engines have never showed the slightest problem. The boat has a hydraulic steering wheel, while in the past its two engines were 2 two-stroke 150hp Yamaha. Boston Whaler manufacturer gives the maximum capacity of 550hp. It has an excellent sail at all weathers and it can be easily maneuvered without requiring the use of electric/hydraulic adjustable flaps that help the economy of fuel consumption and in the smooth navigation despite the weather conditions.
In 2008, all the wooden equipment were maintained , the bimini was replaced by a hardtop, all the cushions of the living room were replaced with new ones, new electronic engine instruments were installed, new fuel consumption counters were placed, counter engine hours were installed, a new extremely fast Lewmar Pro-Fish Windlass with the option of freefall chain was also placed, a new depth fishfinder / plotter Humminbird 957c was installed, dual beam, side sonar and photographic imprinting of the seabed, GPS, Navionics electronic maps & charts, new electrical switches, many sockets 12V and 220V, three batteries, a system for off-shore power supply and simultaneous charging machines, inverter 12V-220V, radio and CD Sony, new speakers, integrated large fridge placed under the skipper's position, VHF / DSC Navicom RT-450, two antennas (radio and VHF) and many other equipment were installed. In 2013 the tent was reinforced, all the wooden equipment were maintaned once more, the hydraulic steering wheel was replaced and, the flabs mechanism as well as the fuel counter were also changed.
All of the boat's manuals are original as well as the manuals of all its equipment and machinery. The boat's specifications are for twelve people but I have issued a license for unlimited voyages for eight occupants. The length mentioned on the license is 8.5 meters and the width is 3.05 meters. The boat has a fishing license as well , it has a specially designed horizontal positions for the transfer of the vacuum cleaner and the hook. It has two extremely usefull live wells for preserving fish, 4 large fish cases for fish and ice and a large detachable case at the stern for the transportation of fish. The vessel is considered the perfect fishing boat. At the same time its open rear deck area can be used by the whole family for any activity.
The boat is a 1991 model. Its two previous owners were in Rhode Island near Boston, USA. The first one was from 1991-1993 and he was a Philosophy professor, while from 1993-2007 the second owner was a famous lawyer. We brought the boat from the United States. The boat is in such an excellent condition where when someone steps his foot onboard he thinks that the boat is brand new making it an object of admiration wherever it appears, something that makes its owner quite proud.
